A Stroll Along The Southbank

Large Rectangle
A Sunday morning walk along the Southbank, well actually I started on the north side of the River Thames at Westminster. A look around the outside of the Houses of Parliament which are under renovation with scaffolding and sheeting covering parts of the building. And, of course Big Ben is now silent for four years!

Burghers of Calais. The Burghers of Calais, by the French sculptor, Auguste Rodin, represents the idea of freedom from oppression. It tells the story of the siege of Calais in 1347, during the Hundred Years War. Calais had been surrounded for a year by English soldiers under King Edward III.
